Watercolor: Any brand will do! (suggestion below)
Affordable Vibrant Watercolor set: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07S3FRJ31/?tag=cb-040846-20 (note, I don’t usually support Amazon, but can’t seem to find these other than on Ebay for way too much $… There are similar brands out there, but this one came highly recommended by a student)
Sets of watercolors in a metal case: Winsor Newton is a good place to start, but if you have the $ – go with Daniel Smith – there are 12 extra empty pans that you can fill with the colors of your choice later on and they are superior paints!

Brushes: there are so many kinds out there – I suggest a size 6 round and a flat brush but you can find nice affordable sets if you look. It’s best to go into an art store and ask about affordable options and they may even let you try one with water and sheet of paper.
Watercolor Block option: (where the pages are glued together so you paint one painting at a time and the paper buckles less than when using a pad) Get whatever size you like to work in. This is the size paper I will use: https://www.dickblick.com/items/arches-watercolor-block-7-x-10-cold-press-20-sheets/
Journal option: (pages will buckle when using)
