STARTS APRIL 5th
Do you love to doodle? Have you ever wanted to start an art journal, but don’t know where to start? Have you been making visual journals but get stuck when it comes to creating decorative lettering or drawing objects/scenery? If you answered yes to any of these questions this is the class for you! Participants will learn how to create unique and personalized journal pages keeping it simple by using just black pens and the white of the paper.
I will give enough instruction for all three elements lettering, doodling, and writing so you can choose one or two to work with or all three together. Each class starts with students following demonstrations of letter/font making techniques, doodling/drawing methods, and journal prompts to get the creativity flowing. The second half of class participants will have time to explore a prompt in depth with the techniques they learned. Sharing is always optional at the end. Journaling can be a great source of self inquiry, exploring issues that are important to you, and is therapeutic for the heart, mind, and soul.
This is an adult course, but teens are welcome to participate as well. Children under 13 may accompany an adult taking the course.
COST: By Donation (students have been paying anywhere from $5 – $50 per class which comes out to $20-$200 for the whole course. Please pay what matches your financial means and needs. No on turned away due to lack of funds.
DATES: We will meet 4 Mondays April 5, 12, 19, 26, 5pm-7pm Pacific Time
Each class will be recorded that day and the link to view it will be sent along with the notes from the class each week. Recorded classes are only available to those who register for the class so we can keep a safe and nurturing space for those to express themselves.
SUPPLY LIST #1:
(all are optional and just suggestions you may bring your favorite black pen to start with an purchase more as the class goes on)
Micron pigma pen (there are many sizes of these – if you go to an art supply store you will find scrap paper near the pens and you can try each size and get a few different thicknesses that you like!) These are my favorite because they are permanent, don’t bleed, and you can use any water media over them when fully dry)
Micron sigma pen Size 01

***Journal: Best to go to the store and feel the paper in the journals. Look for either watercolor or mixed media paper.
***BONUS SIGN UP FOR THIS CLASS BY 12midnight on Sunday, March 21st you will received a FREE leather bound journal and 2 pens (not on list above) WHILE SUPPLIES LAST – I have a bunch of journals that were donated to me and I’d like to gift them forward, but in limited quality. If you live locally you can come over and pick one up if I have any left. I’ve tested it and it works with pens, probably not the best paper to add watercolor to.
ANY SIZE JOURNAL WILL DO, whichever you prefer working in. If you want the option of adding watercolor, marker or and other wet based materials you will want to get a watercolor OR MIXED MEDIA journal (below)
Watercolor Journal: I prefer these, but there are less pages, so unless you are going to add watercolor specifically to your pages, just get the mixed media one below.
MIXED MEDIA JOURNAL:
Any size you’d like to work in you choose
