Saturday AM Class NOVEMBER
In this course we will each make a color wheel and investigate a variety of color combinations – warm, cool, analogous, complementary, monochromatic and more. We will then look at different artists works spanning culture and time (especially taking a look at women and artists who have yet to be mentioned in the history books) for color combination inspiration. We will then have ample time to create a different piece each week using what we have learned in class. Students may continue to explore in between classes. If you love color this is the class for you!
This class is suited well for beginners, professional artists, and everyone in between – especially color enthusiasts. It will be a nurturing space that inspires the student to move towards their creative edge.
This is an adult course, but teens are welcome to participate as well. Children under 13 may accompany an adult taking the course
COST: By Donation (students have been paying anywhere from $5 – $50 per class which comes out to $20-$200 for the whole course. Please pay what matches your financial means and needs. No on turned away due to lack of funds.
DATES: We will meet 4 SATURDAYS; November 7, 14, 21, 28 from 11am-1pm Pacific Time
Each class will be recorded that day and the link to view it will be sent along with the notes from the class each week. Recorded classes are only available to those who register for the class so we can keep a safe and nurturing space for those to express themselves.
Students are encouraged to bring the supplies for the medium they would like to work in to each class. They can remain the same each week or change from class to class throughout the course. Some suggestions are: Watercolor, Inktense Pencils, Pastels (Neocolor2 which are Water-based), or anything else you have some comfort in or wish to explore (links below to suggestions). I will be demonstrating a different media each week.
Watercolors (Palette with half pans):
Inktense pencils (Watercolor pencils that turn to permanent ink)
Neocolor 2 pastels (THESE ARE MY FAVORITE and are waterbased so they turn to paint when you add water!) Make sure you order the ones that say #2 if you want water soluble ones! https://www.dickblick.com/products/caran-dache-neocolor-ii-artists-crayons/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIm9zPsc_j6QIVUR-tBh1mpw4zEAAYASAAEgLaPPD_BwE
FOR PAPER – I suggest getting a mixed media journal or watercolor journal:
Some other ideas for journals:
These used to be my favorites:
