DrawingfromlifeFriPM

Friday Evening Class August

5Drawing from Life: Starting FRIDAY August 7th! 5:30pm-7:30pm

In this course students will learn basic drawing techniques by drawing objects from life. We will explore blind contour, continuous line, sketching, outlining, shading, and proportion techniques using graphite pencil. Students may also choose to  work in color as we move through the drawing exercises. Drawing is a skill – just like  cooking, playing a musical instrument, or gardening… the more you practice, the more your skills will improve!

During each class the instructor will first demonstrate the techniques and students are invited to follow along or watch. At the end of each class students will be encouraged to draw an object  they are looking at using the methods we explored.

No art skills are necessary. This class is suited well for all including beginners, intermediates, professional artists, or people who just want to get back into making art. Drawing is a skill that is helpful to learn if you want to paint, sculpt, make ceramics, and printmaking – as it is the bedrock of foundational skills. It will be a nurturing space that inspires the student to move towards their creative edge.

This is an adult course, but teens are welcome to participate as well. Children under 13 may accompany an adult taking the course.

COST: By Donation (students have been paying anywhere from $5 – $50 per class which comes out to $20-$200 for the whole course. Please pay what matches your financial means and needs. No on turned away due to lack of funds.

DATES: We will meet 4 Fridays; August 7, 14, 21, 28 from 5:30 – 7:30pm Pacific Time

Each class will be recorded that day and the link to view it will be sent along with the notes from the class each week. Recorded classes are only available to those who register for the class so we can keep a safe and nurturing space for those to express themselves. Homework assignments may be given so that you  can practice during the week, but it is not mandatory for you to do it.
